SPORTS PROFILE S.D. WOMEN’S COLLEGE, RAJGANGPUR
At Sarbati Devi Women’s College, we believe that sports and academics are closely linked and work in tandem to improve performance of our students. We believe that basic fitness must be achieved by all our students. However, choosing which sports to play as a hobby and which ones to excel in is left to our students. We provide exposure of different kinds of sports to all our students so that they can choose the sports of their interest and abilities. We do not believe that sports must be played to win all the time. However, we encourage our students to do their best in whatever sport they choose to play.
The college participates in various tournaments organized by Sambalpur University and other renowned Universities as well as State& National level Games championships, etc. The college women Kho Kho team won the Championship in the Inter College Kho Kho tournament 2019-20 held under the Sambalpur University in Rourkela. The three students named Minati Naik, Barsha Kujur and Sujata Ekka were then selected for Inter University at Kalyani University,Kolkata. The college has an appreciative team of boxing players who got selected in Inter University Boxing Competition held in Meerut. The college applauds the players who were a part of it, Jigyasinin Barik, Rubina Pradhan, Seema Bahala and Kiran Barwa. Kiran Barwa, a student of got selected for National Boxing Championship under the Rourkela Steel Plant. She would be representing the college and would be participating in the Boxing Event to be held in Kerala, this month.S.D.Womens College also has a number of students representing the State and the University different disciplines. Inter-college Tournaments in Kho Kho and Kabaddi are held, along with individual tournaments for indoor games. The College Annual Sports, takes a competitive and festive mood each year that evolves enthusiasm among the students, non-Teaching and non-teaching staff.
